The
Trauma, Critical Care and Acute Care Surgery PA/NP Residency is an
intensive 12-month program administered by the departments of Surgery
and Trauma at Hurley Medical Center. The PA/NP resident is involved in
all aspects of care of the trauma and acute care surgery patient at a
Level I trauma center. The residency is designed to provide both
didactic and focused clinical experience and prepare the candidate to
provide high quality care to this patient population.
Hurley Medical Center
has stood as a corner stone for the care of the injured for over 100
years.Over the past 25 years Hurley Medical Center has utilized PAs as
the backbone to support Trauma Surgeons in this mission. To
our knowledge, Hurley Medical Center was the first American College of
Surgeons (ACS)-verified level 2 and then level I Trauma Center using
PAs (without surgical residents) in the world.
Our experience now covers over 25 years with a total of 20 PAs and 3NPs
employed.We are well known in the PA community for our Trauma/Surgery
student rotations. We have been training PA students for almost a
Quarter of a century. We offer to share our experience with
Hospitals that want their high level PAs/NPs trained in Trauma and
Critical Care. We also have fellowship and training programs available
for individuals. We utilize PAs/NPs in trauma, surgery,

Methodist University is seeking a full-time, tenure-track clinical
coordinator/faculty member. Minimum requirements for this position
include a master’s degree, three years of clinical practice
as a
physician assistant (PA), eligibility for unrestricted licensure to
practice in North Carolina, and current certification by the NCCPA.
Previous teaching experience is desirable but not required. Full-time
faculty are encouraged to maintain practice skills and are given one
day weekly to engage in clinical practice. Academic rank and salary are
commensurate with level of education as well as professional and
academic experience. We are seeking enthusiastic applicants for further
development of the program, particularly with the implementation of new
technology. With expansion plans on the horizon (two new buildings

Responsibilities for the clinical coordinator include but are not

teaching in the didactic and clinical phases of the program, arranging

Methodist University PA Program is a seven-semester graduate program
with an enrollment of 34 students each year. The program admitted its
first class in 1996 and received 5 years accreditation during its last
ARC-PA visit in June 2007. We are anticipating expansion over the next

position will work at the South Bronx site and be responsible for

prevention and vaccine studies. Responsibilities include
screening of

& post- test and risk reduction counseling; providing clinical
