POSITION OVERVIEW
• The Physician Assistant provides direct patient care within state
and NCCPA scope of practice guidelines at Lake Tahoe Orthopedic Institute
a managed practice of Barton HealthCare System
• Assesses, plans, implements and evaluates care in collaboration with
the multidisciplinary care team.
• The Physician Assistant relies on the appropriate authorization protocols
when performing medical functions including diagnosing, treating and performing
any other function within the scope of medical practice.
• Physician Assistants are credentialed through the Barton Medical
Staff Allied Health Practitioner Program.
• The Physician Assistant reports to the Practice Manager and Medical
Director
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
• Certification by the National Commission on Certification of Physician
Assistants (NCCPA)
• Current Nevada license or ability to obtain prior to start date
• Must possess recent clinical experience as a Physician Assistant
with the exception of practitioners who have completed an approved training
program within the past year whereby a letter from their program chairman
supporting granting of the requested practice prerogatives is required.
Recent clinical experience is defined as having performed at least 100
outpatient clinical activities/procedures and/or 30 inpatient clinical
activities/procedures during the past two years.
• Two or more years recent Orthopedic experience highly preferred
• Current CPR/BLS certification by the American Heart Association (BLS
for the Healthcare Provider) or ability to obtain prior to start date
• Current ACLS certification prior to hire or must enroll and complete
the first available Barton University course
