Qualifications: Certification. The nurse
practitioner must have an approved and current Nurse Practitioner's license/certificate
with the National Registry of Nurse Practitioners.
Experience. The Women’s Health Nurse
Practitioner shall have a minimum of 24 months within the past 36 months.
A women's health nurse must have experience in direct patient care,
education, administration, and/or research. He or she must have graduated
from an OB/GYN nurse practitioner program (1-year program that is accepted
by the National Certification Corporation for the Obstetric, Gynecologic,
and Neonatal Nursing Specialties).
Knowledge of professional care theories, principles, practices, and
procedures to provide comprehensive primary care to a select
population of essentially healthy women and their babies in a variety of
settings to include intrapartum management, postpartum care, and immediate
newborn care, Demonstrates knowledge, of growth and development,
and pathophysiology of disease processes, specific to the obstetrical and
gynecological population to include all ages of the spectrum from neonate
to geriatrics.
Knowledge of a wide range of medical disorders such as premature birth,
fetal death, forceps delivery, and C sections, as well as broad knowledge
of normal deliveries and their complications and indicated therapeutic
intervention required.
Knowledge of a variety of pharmacological agents used in patient treatment,
the desired effects, side effects, and complications of their use as well
as the accurate administration of the pharmacologic agent, including dosage
calculations as required. Knowledge of the administrative requirements
for proper documentation of patients condition including disease progress,
acknowledgement of teaching, and follow up care.
Knowledge of computer operations and proficiency in the use of basic
word processing, data entry and automated medical records.
Ability to synthesize data from a variety of sources and make appropriate
clinical decisions.
Skill in setting up, operating and monitoring specialized medical equipment
such as IV infusion pumps, cardiac monitoring devices, EKG units, oxygen
analyzers, nebulizers, and other unit specific equipment.

Rural Health Clinic - Family Nurse Practitioner or
Physician Assistant - Coastal Alaska
We are seeking a Family Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant for
a Rural Health Clinic in Coastal Alaska. The Medical Director would
prefer someone with experience but would consider a new or recent graduate
with a very strong RN or EMT background. The clinic hours are Mon-Fri
8:30am-5:00pm with an estimated patient volume of 20 per day. The
