In partnership, this Physician Assistant, under physician responsibility and supervision: Essential functions include, but are not limited to the following: Assisting the surgeon with pre and post operative care, performs H&P's and participates in rounds and the call schedule for organ retrievals and transplant procedure. Requires: a CAAHEP- or ARC-PA- approved physician assistant program, NCCPA certification or eligibility through Pennsylvania State Board of Medicine licensure. Must have current BLS and able to participate in or have completed an approved ACLS program. Must have satisfactorily completed formal training as surgical assistant or currently holds a position which commands comparable respect by virtue of equivalent work experience and training. Previous related experience with renal transplants or patients with renal disease and diabetes is preferred.
As a member of our team, under physician responsibility and supervision, you will perform diagnostic and therapeutic tasks to allow the physicians to extend their knowledge in the sphere of decision making required to establish a diagnosis and to plan the appropriate therapy. You will assist in gathering the data necessary to implement the diagnostic and therapeutic plan of the physician. Major roles include providing acute episodic care for all practice patients, continuity care and advocacy for patients and serving as liaison between physicians and patients. Other roles, undertaken in cooperation with nursing, staff physicians and other department staff, may include triage, telephone communication and patient education. Responsibilities include, but not limited to, H&P's, neurological examination data, clearly discriminating between normal and abnormal findings when evaluating lab values. As appropriate to your training and experience, you will perform therapeutic and diagnostic procedures as directed by the physician including, but not limited to, wound care and dressings, suturing of lacerations, venipuncture and lumbar puncture, omaya reservoir tap, bone marrow biopsy, aspirate and inject joints, bursae and trigger points. Participation in the on-call schedule and some travel to GHS clinic sites required. Requires the completion of a CAAHEP-approved program, NCCPA certification or eligibility through Pennsylvania State Board of Medicine licensure.
